    The JPM Cavat History
The Cagayan Valley Trading was established at Aparri, Cagayan on January of 1949 under the sole proprietorship of a World War II veteran. With a starting capital of Five Thousand Pesos (P 5,000), its main line of business then was General Merchandising, particularly of various construction materials. And with the damages brought by the war, business progressed tremendously with the reconstruction of various infrastructure projects being undertaken by the public and private sectors everywhere.
Encouraged by its substantial gains and the solid support of its clientele, the Cagayan Valley Trading entered the Construction Industry. On August 30, 1976, it was issued a contractor's license under Category D, General Building, with an additional classification, General Engineering, by the Philippine Accreditation Board. Since then it has been officially recognized by the Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Health, National Irrigation Administration, Philippine Ports Authority and other government and private institutions.
In 1984, the Cagayan Valley Trading (CAVAT) was awarded a contract for utility services in the Petron Corporation Bulk Depot at Barangay Punta, Aparri, Cagayan and for small projects of typhoon-damaged installations of the said firm.
In 1989, CAVAT won another contract with Petron Corporation. This time, for the preventive maintenance of all company-owned and dealer-owned stations on the Cagayan Valley, including Ifugao and Kalinga-Apayao provinces.
With the growing success of its construction business, the Cagayan Valley Trading decided to concentrate its operations solely to the Industry and organized a separate entity, the J.P.M. CAVAT CONSTRUCTION. The "new" firm continued its transactions and projects with the DPWH, DOH, Petron Corp., and other public and private agencies and firms.
Known for its long track record of successfully and satisfactorily completed projects, J.P.M. CAVAT CONSTRUCTION in the years 1992 and 1995, was awarded further a Preventive Maintenance contract with Petron Corporation for Cagayan Valley. And in March 1995, the said firm won yet another 3-year contract with Petron Corporation for the maintenance of its service stations in the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Aurora.
